Dismantling Whiteness
Race and Whiteness have a specific beginning in history, pinpointing particular events viewed through a Whole Systems lens. We each seek ways to change the system and often see it as a mechanism outside our individual experiences.
This workshop explores the dual-ordered nature of systems in the simultaneous relationship between the individual and the collective. This revelation through history tells the story of the pseudoscience of race as it emerged in post-Roman Europe and the legal evolution of Whiteness in the American Colonies. It enables participants to understand how paradigms can become unseen traps in our social systems and how individuals are the key to creating systemic change by engaging in personal transformation practices.
Outcomes:
-
Understanding Historical Context: Participants will explore the origins of race and Whiteness, examining critical historical events and their implications on contemporary societal structures.
-
Recognizing Systemic Paradigms: Attendees will learn to identify and analyze how entrenched cultural paradigms can act as barriers to social equity and justice, revealing the subtle mechanisms of exclusion.
-
Emphasizing Personal Transformation: The workshop will highlight the importance of personal experiences and reflections in fostering systemic change, empowering individuals to take actionable steps towards more inclusive practices within their communities.
